Three Benefits of Business Postcard Marketing

Direct mail postcards

The first known printed picture postcard was created in France in 1870. Even soldiers sent mesh postcards to their loved ones in the mail during WWI. Since then, however, business postcards have been used as a way to market a product. Although many companies have turned exclusively to internet marketing, others stick with sending business postcards, as those in the 18 to 34 age demographic prefer to receive direct mail postcards rather than online ads. Because of this, there are still benefits associated with sending customized postcards as a marketing technique.

1. Postcard direct mail generates a generous return on investment. This is because direct advertising campaigns are able to clearly show how many potential customers responded to a call to action. Since business postcards are versatile in how recipients can respond to them, it can be easier to keep track of new customers.

2. Postcard printing is cost effective. Even though marketers spent 153.3 billion dollars on direct mail marketing in 2010, this cost is not attributed to only postcards. In fact, postcard printing often costs less than most direct mail advertising, as less money has to be spent on printing, collation, and print labels.

3. Audiences are highly targeted. Postcards are generally sent to audiences that are potential customers, unlike magazines, spam emails, and television ads, which can be seen by millions of different people who have no interest in your product. Since specific audiences receive direct mail postcards for a reason, this can also be a contributing factor to their high return on investment.

Contrary to what many people believe, using postcards as a form of direct mail marketing is still helpful in receiving more business. By using them correctly, they can still provide a generous return on your investment. Although some people may try to discourage you from marketing any other way besides online, business postcards still prove to be an effective marketing strategy. Helpful research also found here.

  1. For some reason I dont believe that people 18 to 34 care more about print advertising than online advertising. Thats the group who spends the most time online, and the ones who are more in tune with technology! It should be the complete opposite statistic.

  2. Think about. It is a whole lot easier to delete an email before reading it than it is to throw out mail before reading. The curiosity of receiving something in the mail peaks peoples interest, and therefore they are more likely to read it.
