Moving Made Easy

What to know about intersate moves

In 2011, 11.6 percent of U.S. residences were recorded as having relocated by the Census Bureau. This is the highest percentage of movers to ever be recorded.

On average, Americans move 11 times during one lifetime. That means that the average American goes through the stress and exertion of moving 11 times! Luckily, there are some tricks to take a bit of the burden off of your shoulders the next time you are faced with a interstate moving.

Why are more Americans moving than ever before? Well, it is in part due to the amount of corporate jobs, and inherent relocations. The amount of corporate relocations that occur have increased 30 percent since 2010. If you have recently received your company relocation letter and intend on interstate moving, you are far from alone.

In 2011, almost 60 percent of businesses that ended up moving locations outsourced their moving needs entirely. This means that a typical relocation package will cover most relocation expenses…but not all of them. If you have been asked to commit a corporate or military move, find out if the expense of an interstate moving company can be covered. Often times, it can be.

Regardless of whether you receive a typical relocation package or an extraordinary one, you will want to take some precautionary measures to be as prepared as possible for your interstate moving day. Both being organized and planning ahead will make your move go as smoothly as possible.

With moving pods, for example, you have everything you need to make your move go quickly and leisurely. Not only are moving pods shipped to your new home for you, but you have convenient moving pods storage at your disposal as well. This way, you can move a few of your things one month, some more the next, and so on.

Receiving a relocation package, you will be given a “move by” date. Give yourself plenty of time before this date to pack, make an inventory of your belongings, and a checklist for moving day. And consider interstate moving companies and the simplicity they bring to your move.
